Music lovers are heading to Kilmore over the weekend of 27th to 29th June for the annual Kilmore Celtic Festival, which again promises to be a wonderful weekend.
Come and join us in this historic town and experience a true Celtic winter’s day. Kilmore, while not known for its good weather certainly makes up for it with its friendly welcome to all its festival visitors.
The festival opens on Friday evening with gatherings at the local hotels whilst Saturday commences with the Poet’s Breakfast at the Blue Dragonfly Cafe. If you have a favourite poem or an original item we’d love to hear it and share it with you.
The festival gets into full swing with music at its best in our heated venues and ends with the evening concert. Follow the Scottish and Irish Pipers as they move through the town to our Celtic Street Market where they will perform throughout the day. There is nothing quite like the atmosphere and excitement offered by great live music and this year’s concert with an incredible line-up of talent is no exception.
On Sunday all are welcome to take part in a Celtic Mass at Christ Church Kilmore which is in Union Street commencing at 9am.
After the service enjoy an early morning stroll around the town and visit the local Art Gallery at the Old Kilmore Courthouse and listen to the Irish Pipers. The Sunday highlight is the Celtic Banquet which commences at 12 noon sharp concluding at 4pm with a great dinner to accompany the fine entertainment. Bookings are essential for this event.
So come along to Kilmore and discover toe-tapping, finger snapping jigs, reels, traditional and original music plus much more. Get up and dance or sing along to well known tunes and brighten up your winters day.
